Honeymoon Holidays in Italy

There are few places more romantic than Italy and that is why it is the perfect country in which to take your honeymoon. It is a country steeped in a history as old as man and a culture as wide as the mind has to offer. There is almost no end of options for honeymoon holidays.

In the north of the country, there are the Dolomites, a mountain range in the Southern Limestone Alps. The area is popular with sports fans, offering skiing, free climbing and, for the most adventurous, Base Jumping. A perfect honeymoon holiday destination for the sports fans.

Immortal composers as diverse as Gioachino Rossini, Antonio Salieri, Giacomo Puccini and Giuseppe Verdi all hailed from this great land. Tourists looking to engage with the country’s musical history may be interested in visiting one of its famous opera houses. Milan’s La Scala is probably the country’s most well known. Designed by Giuseppe Piermarini, the neoclassical building opened in 1778 with a performance of Salieri’s “Europa riconosciuta”. It has since hosted the premiers of countless other famous operas, including Puccini’s Madame Butterfly and Turandot, and Verdi’s Nabucco. Other famous theatres and opera houses in this most operatic of countries include Venice’s La Fenice, the Teatro di San Carlo and the Teatro Massimo.

Question by Theresa S: Should we go to Atlantis or Italy for our December honeymoon?
We are getting married in December 2008, still some time ahead. I’m trying to decide which of the two would be better for the honeymoon. Italy- weather: fair, price: cheaper in December, culture, history. BUT Atlantis is only 2 hours from New Jersey, resort, is the weather going to be warm enough? So many questions. I need some feedback! Thanks.

Italy will be the holiday you will remember for ever – just so beautiful – it’s the best place in the world to holiday – I would take my loved one there for the most romantic time – so many places to choose from – Siena looks amazing – there is only one Venice – - -
